The transport screen is used to display the totals of all the materials and resources anywhere in your Empire that are available for movement so they can be used for production or trade. Since your capital city represents your national industry and your national trading center, it is necessary to move resources and materials to the capital in order to use them.
Transport always refers only to commodities moved within the bounds of your Empire: the land you control that appears in your country’s color on the diplomacy map. Commodities brought from other countries are moved using trade on the bid and offers screen.
All the resources and materials shown on this screen are “connected”. This term means that they are included within a land and sea network that is capable of moving them to the capital. As your civilian units build more roads, ports, and developments on the terrain map, more resources and materials will be connected.
